Boarding: Frequently Asked Questions

What type of kennel will my pet reside in while boarding?

Our facility is indoor, secure, and climate controlled. If your pet is a medical boarder, they will stay in a treatment boarding area where they can be monitored by our technicians, and can avoid stairs if needed.

Will my pet require an exam prior to boarding?

Yes. Because your pet will be in our care, we do require a physical exam with one of our veterinarians within the past 12 months. This allows us to meet you and your pet, learn about your pet’s health and medical needs, habits, dietary needs and preferences, etc. It also allows you to meet us, our doctors and staff, and be comfortable with our policies and facility prior to leaving your pet. Our physical exam fee is $90.00.

What are your vaccine requirements?

Proof of vaccination from a veterinarian is required for your pet to enter the boarding facility. Please provide us with this information 72 hours prior to your pet’s check-in date.

If you wish to have us perform your pet’s exam and vaccines, this should be done 7-10 days in advance of the boarding reservation for your pet’s protection. While no vaccine is 100% effective, this time frame allows for the vaccines to work and your pet to be fully protected.

  • Canine Requirements:

  • DHPP Vaccine within the past three years

  • Bordetella vaccine within the past 6 months to one year (depending on the type of vaccine used)

  • Rabies Vaccine current

  • Negative fecal test within the past year

  • Feline Requirements:

    • FVRCP Vaccine within the past three years

    • Rabies Vaccine current

How old does my pet have to be to board?

Your pet must be fully vaccinated and therefore must be at least 4 months of age. For puppies or kittens younger than 4 months of age, please speak to a Front Office Associate about our specific vaccine and safety requirements.

Do I need to bring my pet’s food?

If your pet eats a specific brand of food, or if they are on a prescription diet, you will be required to provide that diet. However, we feed Purina Proplan Adult Chicken and Rice or for sensitive pets, the Purina EN diet. We are happy to provide these diets at no additional cost to you.

How many times a day will my dog go outside?

Dogs are walked or turned out into outdoor runs 3-4 times a day. You may also schedule TLC sessions for your pet at an additional cost. TLC is a session of playtime and special attention with your pet(s) for a duration of at least 15 minutes.

If you would like a specific activity or other special request, please let the staff know upon check in.

If you elect TLC for your pet, it can be done once a day, every other day or on specified dates.

TLC is required a minimum of every other day for all puppies less than 12 months of age, AND any pet boarding longer than two weeks.

Can my pets board together?

Yes. However cats and dogs cannot board together due to the separate boarding areas for each. We reserve the right to separate any animals due to size differences or behavioral conflicts.

Can I bring blankets and toys for my pets?

We provide fresh linens for your pet daily. We do not recommend bringing anything that is special to you or your pet. Blankets or towels you do not want returned are ok. We take all reasonable care of any belongings left with your pet, but cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items.

When can I check my pet in or out of the boarding facility?

Boarding hours are 7:00am to 6:30pm Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:30pm on Saturday, and 10:00am to 3:30pm on Sunday.

Please be advised we are closed on all major holidays, and have modified hours on the day before Thanksgiving, on Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.

Can you give my pet his medication while boarding?

Yes. We require your pet’s medication to be in a clearly labeled container with the medication name, correct dose, and prescribing veterinarian. We are unable to give medication that is pre-mixed in food or treats as we have no way to ensure the medication was ingested.

The fee to administer medication is $6.50-$11.50 per day depending on dosing, regardless of the medication(s) or supplements needed. Additional fees will apply for multiple medications, diabetic pets, and administering subcutaneous fluids, as well as all pets boarding in our treatment boarding area. Please see the fees listed below, or ask a Front Office Associate for details regarding your pet's specific needs.
